Presbyterian Women are one of the backbones within the church; they are committed to nurture their faith through prayer and Bible study, to support the mission of the church, to work for justice and peace and to build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the church.
Presbyterian women host the Networker’s Dinner in October which features a different theme every year. 2013 features those affected by Hurricane Sandy and the Jersey Shore. Come join us for a Coney Island meal! Donations will go to Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) and CEDEPCA, an organization in Guatemala that provides ministry throughout Central America.
They also host a Mother-Daughter Banquet and the Advent Potluck Dinner.
Additionally, they hold the much-anticipated $.25 Rummage Sale twice a year on the last Friday in April and the last Friday in October. Gently used clothing is offered at $.25 per item along with toys and household goods. A ‘treasure room’ is set aside where more expensive items are sold. No rummage sale is complete without fresh baked goods, goulash, salads and fresh coffee and cider! The sale usually starts at 6:30 AM where a line has already formed!
“Care Packages” are mailed to college students facing their final exams in November and the annual quilt show is supported by selling soup and sandwiches. Continued religious education is an on-going commitment of this women’s group.
