Mary Lou has been a member for over 30 years at this church.

She said at one Christmas season, other members were decorating the tree at the old church. Someone was having difficulty playing the piano. Mary Lou volunteered to help play the piano and she has been playing ever since.

“I retire then I go back,” Mary Lou said. “I love the choir. They are a great group. We have a lot of fun together.”

“To me, music in the church is the glue that holds the service together,” she said.

Mary Lou grew up in Iowa graduating from Ames High School. Then she went to Iowa State University. After graduation, she taught school for third graders. When she married a New Yorker, they both moved to New York state.

Mary Lou’s favorite thing to do is to travel and see new places.
